Scope: This is a quick analysis of selected accounts that we manage, not all accounts or the whole market.

Analysis period: 90 days of analysis. Year-on-year comparisons use the same 90-day period in the previous year. Conversions use a 7-day click basis unless labelled 1-day view. Purchase value is Meta-attributed, not GA4 or accounting revenue.

The story in one paragraph

Traffic campaigns are the workhorses nobody writes home about. They exist to bring people to a website, and they are usually judged, quietly, as the cheap support act for the real sales campaigns. Then we compared a client's traffic campaigns against the same 90 days last year, and the support act had grown up. Sales inside those traffic campaigns were up 40 percent. Leads were up 17 percent. The campaigns everyone thought of as traffic were selling, and this is the story of why.

The short answer

This is a quick analysis of selected accounts that we manage. In 90 days of analysis, a client's traffic objective campaigns delivered 40 percent more purchases than the same period in the previous year, with 17 percent more leads, on campaigns that were never built as sales campaigns. Across the same client's account, link click-through rate rose from 1.75 percent to 2.14 percent, up 22 percent, and purchases on Instagram rose 16 percent. The growth came from steady, always-on traffic, placements left free to compete, and data checked before decisions were made on it.

Act one: a strong account with an underrated engine

The account was already a performer. Around 645,000 link clicks in the period tells you the traffic machine was big. What the headline numbers hid was the shape of the growth: the sales campaigns were doing their job, but the traffic campaigns were quietly producing more of everything that matters, more visits that returned, more leads, and more purchases than the year before.

Most businesses respond to that pattern by starving traffic and feeding only sales campaigns. It feels logical. It usually is not, because sales campaigns harvest demand that something else created, and traffic is a large part of that something else.

Act two: what we did, and kept doing

We kept the traffic campaigns always on, properly funded, instead of treating them as a tap to turn off when sales needed the budget.

We let the placements compete. Facebook carried the bulk of delivery, as it did across the selected accounts, but Instagram was not managed as an afterthought, and it repaid the attention: purchases from Instagram placements grew 16 percent year on year for this client.

We worked the creative and the audiences in small, steady passes, the kind that lift click-through rate a point at a time. The account's link CTR rising 22 percent year on year is what that discipline looks like in a number: more of the right people choosing the ad, on the same screens where the year before they scrolled past.

And we checked the data before we trusted it. Seria for Meta audited the account 15 times in the period and the results were read on a click basis, with view results kept separate, so the growth we reported was growth we could stand behind. When we say sales grew 40 percent in these campaigns, it is on that basis.

Act three: the numbers of the story

  • Purchases inside the traffic campaigns: up 40 percent year on year
  • Leads inside the traffic campaigns: up 17 percent year on year
  • Purchases on Instagram placements, account wide: up 16 percent year on year
  • Link click-through rate, account wide: up from 1.75 percent to 2.14 percent, an improvement of 22 percent
  • Link clicks in the period: around 645,000
  • Seria audits of the account in the period: 15

Put together, the picture is not a campaign that got lucky. It is an account where the top of the funnel got stronger, and the sales followed the traffic up.

What this means for your business

Build the funnel before you judge the harvest. If your traffic campaigns are weak, your sales campaigns are fishing in a pond that nobody is filling.

Give traffic a real job and a real budget, then measure it honestly: visits, leads and the purchases that arrive through it, over a full quarter, against the same quarter last year. Growth of the kind in this story is not built in a week.

And copy the least glamorous part of the story, the checking. Fifteen audits in 90 days is not exciting. It is simply why the decisions in this account were made on numbers that were true.

Frequently asked questions

Can traffic campaigns really grow sales?

Yes. In this client's case, purchases inside traffic campaigns grew 40 percent year on year and leads grew 17 percent. Traffic builds the audience that buys, and some of that buying is recorded inside the traffic campaigns themselves.

How long did the growth take?

The comparison is 90 days against the same 90 days the year before. This is steady, always-on improvement, not a one-week spike, which is exactly why it is worth copying.

What mattered most, budget or discipline?

Discipline. The wins came from keeping traffic funded, letting placements compete, improving click-through rate and checking the data 15 times in the period before acting on it.

Why is the click-through rate important here?

Because it rose 22 percent while everything else grew. A rising CTR means the ads became more relevant to the people seeing them, and relevance is the one advantage that makes every other result cheaper to earn.
